Rina Saeed Khan is an award winning environmental journalist from Islamabad, Pakistan. Her career in journalism began in 1992 when she started working as an editor for The Friday Times, Pakistan’s first independent English newspaper. From 1998 onwards she began working as a consultant in communications with the UNDP in Pakistan and WWF-Pakistan, writing reports, articles and scripts for documentaries.
Rina has studied in both the USA and London. She has received international awards like the Earth Journalism Award in Copenhagen during the UN Summit on climate change in 2009 for the best reporting on climate change from Asia. Currently, Rina writes a popular weekly column on the environment called Earthly Matters for DAWN, Pakistan’s largest circulation English-language national daily in addition to her consultancies for WWF-Pakistan and UNDP-Pakistan. She has also co-authored a book on the environment in Pakistan, recently published by Oxford University Press entitled: “Water in the Wilderness: Life in the coast, desert and mountains of Pakistan”.
